Driver notebook manual

PRO

Put colored tags on your rivals, and the next time you race them their icon shows up on the Relative and the Standings. A PRO plan tool of Raptor Racing Overlay.

Is the driver who put you off track last week in your race again? Is your league friend right behind you? With the Driver notebook you know at a glance: you mark each driver with one or more icons —dangerous, bad connection, friend, teammate and more— and the overlays show them next to their name every time you meet.

The notebook recognizes the person by their iRacing account, not by the car or the number: even if they change car, series or team, their tags follow them. Everything is stored only on your PC.

Relative: the icons at the end of the name. John Bilbao has Dangerous and Bad connection; Christopher McNick, Friend.

1Step 1 · Open the notebook

In the Raptor Racing Overlay menu, find the TOOLS group and choose Driver notebook. Its preview shows on the right; click OPEN THE NOTEBOOK.

The notebook is part of the PRO plan. With the FREE license it shows a lock; the 7-day PRO trial includes all of it, so you can try it before buying.

2Step 2 · After the race, add the drivers

No need to write names down: the menu saves every driver of each session you race on its own. That is why tags are added after the race, calmly: during the race your hands are on the wheel and the notebook stays closed.

Finish the race and open the notebook. On the right, YOUR LAST SESSION shows the track, the session type and the date at the top, and below them every driver of that session in finishing order: position, number, name, iRating, license and car. Click ADD next to a driver and they go to your list on the left, ready to be tagged. If they are already in your notebook, the button says VIEW and takes you to them.

The ◀ ▶ arrows take you back to earlier sessions: the last 30 are kept. If you ever race with the menu closed, the Standings records the session instead.

Looking for someone in particular? Type their name in FIND A DRIVER. It searches the drivers in your notebook and everyone you have already seen in your sessions. The app never goes online, so it cannot search iRacing's database: it only finds people who have raced with you.

  1. 1MY DRIVERS: the drivers you saved, the last one added on top. Top right, how many there are; Filter by name finds one.
  2. 2The 14 icons of each driver: grey = off, in color = on. One click turns it on or off and it saves instantly. Here, Diego Barrenechea has Dangerous and Dirty driver.
  3. 3NOTE: whatever you want to remember about the selected driver. It saves on its own.
  4. 4REMOVE FROM NOTEBOOK: with two clicks, deletes the selected driver along with their tags and note.
  5. 5FIND A DRIVER: searches by name in your notebook and among the drivers you have already seen. It doesn't search iRacing: the app doesn't go online.
  6. 6YOUR LAST SESSION: the track, the session type and the date; below, all its drivers in finishing order.
  7. 7The arrows: go to earlier sessions (the last 30 are kept). The number tells you which one you are viewing.
  8. 8ADD: adds that driver to your notebook.
  9. 9VIEW: that driver is already in your notebook; it takes you to their row.
  10. 10THE TAGS: all 14, with their names. Each one is explained below.
  11. 11READ THE MANUAL: opens this page.

3Step 3 · Add tags and a note

On the left, in MY DRIVERS, each saved driver has a row with the 14 icons. Grey is a tag that is off; in color, one that is on. One click on an icon turns it on or off, and it is saved right away: there is no save button. Hover over an icon and its name shows below.

You can give a driver as many tags as you like. With many drivers, use Filter by name to find one.

Pick a driver (one click on their name) and their NOTE shows below: write whatever you want to remember, for example “defends the inside at turn 1”. It saves on its own too.

To take someone out of your notebook, pick them and click REMOVE FROM NOTEBOOK. It takes two clicks on purpose: the first changes the button to “CLICK AGAIN TO REMOVE” and the second deletes them along with their tags and note.

4Step 4 · See them on the Relative and the Standings

The next time that driver is in your session, their icon shows up on the Relative and the Standings, right after the last letter of their name. If the name is long, the icon sits over the end of the name: the overlay never changes size.

Each driver shows up to 3 icons, ordered by importance: first what you want to know before a corner (dangerous, dirty driver, bad connection) and last what is just goodwill (friend, YouTuber, Twitch). With more than 3, you see the 2 most important and a +N with the rest.

Changes you make in the notebook reach the overlays in under 1 second, without restarting anything.

Standings: the same icons at the end of the name. Cisco Rodriguez has 4 tags: the 2 most important and +2 are shown.

More about each overlay: the Relative manual and the Standings manual.

5Step 5 · Move the icons or turn them off

If you'd rather not cover the name, the icons can go outside the overlay, with no background, at the height of each driver's row. The most important icon touches the edge of the overlay. The overlay keeps its size.

Each overlay has its own setting, and you can choose differently on each:

  • Relative: in its settings screen, THE TABLE tab, COLUMNS section: the Notebook tags switch and Tag position. Also by right-clicking the overlay, under Columns.
  • Standings: in its settings screen, LOOKS tab: Notebook tags and Tag position. Also by right-clicking the overlay.
  • The three Tag position options: At the end of the name (default), On the left and On the right. If they don't fit on the screen on the chosen side, they move to the other one.
  • With Notebook tags off, that overlay shows no icons. The notebook is not deleted.

The 14 tags

They are in order of importance: that is the order in which they appear in the overlay row, and it decides which ones show when a driver has more than 3.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my notebook stored?
Only on your PC. It is not uploaded to any server and nobody else sees it. If you reinstall the program, the notebook is kept.
Can I search for any iRacing driver?
No. The app does not go online, so it does not query iRacing's database. You find the drivers you have already raced with, because the menu records them on its own every session.
Do other drivers see my tags?
No. Only you see them, on your overlays. The exception is if you stream with Streaming in OBS: then your audience sees them too. If you don't want them on stream, turn off Notebook tags on that overlay.
Do they show on the phone and in OBS?
Yes. With the wifi connection on the phone and with Streaming in OBS, the icons show next to the name, just like on the overlay.
What happens if my license goes back to FREE?
The icons stop showing on the overlays, but the notebook stays saved. When you go back to PRO, all your tags and notes are there.
Can I tag someone while racing?
No: the notebook is used from the menu, before or after racing. Finish the race and add the drivers from your last session.
